In addition to the above, red shiner (aka rainbow minnow, fire barb, etc;
Cyprinella lutrensis), golden topminnow (Fundulus chrysotus), bluefin
killifish (Lucania goodei) are occassionally sold. Historically, sailfin
shiner (Pteronotropis hypselopterus), coastal shiner (aka American danio;
Notropis petersoni), and pygmy sunfishes (Elassoma spp.) were also sold in
fish stores. All can be found in older aquarium literature (e.g., Innes'
"Exotic Aquarium Fishes"; issues of Tropical Fish Hobbyist from the 1960s and
1970s).
