I've seen the killer rain thing before, my step father who keeps koi had a
die off like that after a rain a few years ago. The rain was a driving rain that
dropped an inch or so in less than an hour. In the mountains that is a lot of
rain. there had been a long period with very little rain just before this
happened. He asked me my opinion but all I could come up with was the possibility
the rain had washed pesticides into the water or chemical out of the air. He
lives in Charleston W.Va. but the air there is much cleaner than it was when I
was a child so I'm not sure that is a viable option. It was weird but koi are
so tuff I would be amazed if something like a pH drop did them in.
