Here is some more information pertaining to the recent discussion about
releasing tadpoles or bullfrogs out of their native range. This is
Washington state's law on the matter.

Release of bull frogs into "water gardens" is a gross misdemeanor, punishable under RCW 77.15.250, and additionally subjects the violator to pay all costs of the Department in capturing, killing or controlling the bull frogs. The nursery, knowing the disposition of the bull frogs is "water gardens," is an accomplice if they aid or agree to aid in planning or committing the offense. RCW 9A.08.020. Each sale for release into "water gardens" is a separate offense.

A nursery in the San Juans is preparing to sell tadpoles for people to put in their water gardens, a move that seems ill-advised at best.
