Sorry Jay... I've been collecting across the southeast for the past couple
weeks, and forgot about it. Our esteemed AC editor got all but two. The next
highest score was a 4 or 5...

Common names were taken from Jordan, D.S., B.W. Evermann, and H.W. Clark
(1930) 'Checklist of the fishes and fishlike vertebrates of North and Middle
America north of the northern boundary of Venezuela and Colombia.'

1. Bashaw - flathead catfish (Pylodictis olivaris)
2. Thunderpumper - freshwater drum (Aplodinotus grunniens)
3. Bubbler - freshwater drum (Aplodinotus grunniens)
4. Red sturgeon - lake sturgeon(Acipenser fulvescens)
5. Hackleback - shovelnose sturgeon (Scaphirhynchus platorynchus)
6. Spadefish - paddlefish (Polyodon spathula)
7. Nailrod - skipjack (Alosa chrysochloris)
8. Sawbelly - blueback herring (Alosa aestivalis)
9. Waterbelly - kiyi (Coregonus kiyi)
10. Blackhorse - bluesucker (Cycleptus elongatus)
11. Skimback - highfin carpsucker (Carpioides velifer)
12. Bay Mare - white sucker (Catostomus commersoni)
13. Quiwee - Cui-ui (Chasmistes cujus)
14. Fiddler - channel catfish (Ictalurus punctatus)
15. Mufflejaw - mottled sculpin (Cottus bairdi)
16. John Demon - white crappie (Pomoxis annularis)
17. Tobaccobox - pumpkinseed (Lepomis gibbosus)
18. Blue Joe - bluegill (Lepomis macrochirus)
19. Blue Johnny - rainbow darter (Etheostoma caeruleum)
20. Pickering - sauger (Zander canadense)
