A different kind of liver...
A biologist I know used to be an observer on a fishing boat in Alaska. He
told me about one old skipper who did things his own way. He didn't think
too highly of laws that restricted his actions, especially when it came to
protected species. One time a sea lion swam next to the boat and the guy
grabbed his rifle, shot it dead, snagged it with a hook of some kind and
held it at the surface of the water long enough to cut out its liver. He
then let the body go, took the slab of liver into his kitchen and fried it
and ate it.
The biologist said everyone was too scared of the guy to say or do anything
or report him :-)
