NANFA-- Re:amzing bowfin facts

I was walking along the water at a local pond and noticed baby bowfins in
the weeds that were washed along the shore. I waded out just over ankle
deep and was picking them up in my hands when I seen a swell in the water
in front of me, I jumped back on shore ( this happened very fast and I'm
still not sure of the sequence) and there was daddy, he only stuck his
snout out of the water, mouth was open, then slid back into the water. he
swam out about 5 feet frm shore, splashed the surface ( this attracts the
babies back to papa) and he soon had his entire brood and headed elswhere,
