NANFA-- $$$ Available for habitat restoration

****FUNDING OPPORTUNITIES FOR COMMUNITY-BASED HABITAT
RESTORATION PROJECTS***

NMFS continues to partner with the Five Star Challenge
Grants Program and the American Sportfishing
Association FishAmerica Foundation to evaluate and
co-fund marine, estuarine, and coastal habitat
restoration projects to benefit NOAA trust resources
including anadromous fish.

Applications for funding consideration for
community-based habitat restoration
projects are currently being accepted by both partner
organizations:

**Five Star Restoration Challenge Grants
Program--applications must be postmarked by March 1,
2000; and

**FishAmerica Foundation--applications must be
postmarked by March 6, 2000.

Additional information on these funding opportunities,
including web links,instructions to applicants and
application forms that can be downloaded, and
addresses where applications should be directed, can
be found on the NMFS Restoration Center homepage at:

(look under "Community-based Restoration" or "What's
New")

Additionally, in mid-March the Restoration Center
expects to advertise the availability of NMFS funding
under its Community-Based Restoration Program within
the Office of Habitat Conservation. A postmark
deadline for applications submitted to this Program is
anticipated to be April 30, 2000. Please check the
Restoration Center web page for an official
announcement and instructions for applicants beginning
mid-March. Examples of projects that have been funded
to date can be found on the web page listed above,
which is an excellent starting point to begin
formulating restoration project proposal ideas.
