You're going for the Petromyzon look... that IS different! There are some
excellent photos of several freshwater species of lamprey in the book
"Fishes of Alabama and the Mobile Basin" by Mettee, O'Neil and Pierson along
with good illos of details of the oral disks. Especially the least brook
lamprey has an informative photo.

(Convention plug: Scott Mettee has recently agreed to speak at the
Huntsville convention this June, on the subject of fish movements in the
Alabama River. He's been involved with research on blue chubs in the
Alabama, and what his group has found will change your opinion of blue chubs
forever!)
