Do you have them covered with water? I could not make that out
from your email.

I have fed mine squished old grapes. I just toss them in and don't
take them out again. The water is changed without disturbing the grapes
(or fruit). Just leave the food in all the time. Any flakes should work
too. You have to let it get all yucky before the worms eat it.
