Rock or Stone soup is a " How Tom Sawyer got his fence painted" kind of
story. Some people who were very hungry cracked a plan. They bragged about
stone soup to the town. They said they would then make some after the
interest built. They made a big elaborate deal out of building a fire,
setting up the kettle and adding the water. Then added some very special
rocks to it. Those interested suggested maybe it would taste better with
some this and some of that. The plan worked perfectly, by the time everyone
was done adding what they thought might enhance it, there was a full blown
soup and the hungry people were finally full.

In contrast, my recipe ( I didn't come up with myself-it is one I had tried
somewhere and read in other publications) for the sucker patties is mostly
sucker meat, the addition of vegatables is merely seasoning .
