Yesterday i noticed that one of my male darters went into
breeding colors..but just for a few hours. He was extremely dark and
colorful, and had his dorsal fin raised, and was being territorial. Later I
saw him eating one of the moss/algae plants growing on a rock i had collected
from the darters habitat. He would occasionally nip at the tips of the
feathery leaves. He is very healthy, and there is nothing wrong with him from
what i can see. I thought for sure that rainbows don't show breeding colors
this time of year. Whats the deal? -Dan
