Here in Louisiana there is now a closed-season on Amia calva due to
over-fishing caused by an extreme interest in caviar since the banning of
Paddlefish harvesting for thier eggs that first occured about ten years
ago......

Paddlefish and Amia calva are both protected. Amia calva during the spawning
months of Jan. through April ( I think) and Paddlefish are protected for
infinity due to the wholesale slaughter of them strictly for their roe.
Their guts were sliced open and even the males met the same fate as the
females who may or may not have contained eggs and the carcasses were
unceremoniously tossed overboard as pure waste!

These two events immediately ensued due to the collapse of the sturgeon
fisheries and the failure of the USSR, if I have my facts correct.

I wouldn't buy or even taste any product that involves the wholesale
slaughter and endangerment of even the Bullhead catfishes' eggs, if it means
certain destruction of a species.

Thanks for all of your views?thoughts on this "cavior" issue.
