That pic is about twice natural size for the ones I'm familiar with, and the
same is true for the ones I saw in the St. Lawrence this year, so it looks
like U.S. spp. may be pretty much the same.
That stance in the pic is a "I'm a dead leaf, leave me alone or put me back
in the water" stance.

OK, sounds more like a Saucer Bug, or even an Aphelocheirus sp.
Watch out, they can nip if you handle them!
