I've been keeping some for a couple of years now, I really like them.
They are basically a North American version of a loach. I've never seen
them really really settle down very well, they always seem a little
flightly, but they feed well and stay healthy. I generally keep them by
themselves and have a fine sandy substrate. My guess is that they would
like some flow from a powerhead too as they are usually found around
faster current where I have collected them in the Red River. They eat
flake food quite happily, and quite like frozen bloodworms too.
