Matt... If you're going to "biologically kill" either sex (which you are in
effect doing when you remove an animal from a wild population, no matter your
purpose), it works out nicely that it'd be preferable to take the males
instead of the females. A single male can fill in for the 10 or so you
remove.

Like my Foundations of Ecology prof has said, perhaps too many times:

"Males are only worthwhile in a cohort for a couple seconds and a microgram of
protein." :)

Bob Goldstein say there are 2 type of aquarium hobbyists: fishkeepers and
aquarists. Fishkeepers keep fish because fish and fish tanks are beautiful,
whereas aquarists breed fish and raise the eggs/fry.
