Not sure they need it this high. I would recommend reducing the temp to the
mid 70's F. When collecting in Costa Rica, I was surprised-in-how cool the
water was. I think these fish would do better-in-a lower temperature.

There are no dumb questions. Warm is a relative term. These fish are
native to Hondouras and the Yucatan, respectively, so my guess is that they
like warmer temperatures.

The heater is set-in-86 F.
