Here is another wild idea. Years ago( '70s & '80s) I had looked into
building an earthsheltered home. One of the ideas for cooling the home was
pulling air thru PVC drain pipe (6" or >) that was buried approximately 4'
under ground in long trenches. Supposedly-in-4' down the earth is around 54
degrees F. You would have an inlet above ground out in the yard and pull air
thru the pipe into the room. Naturally the slower the air passing thru the
pipe the cooler the incoming air could be. You might be able to cool the
room that way. One problem i did see with this was the condensation in the
pipe as the air cooled. You might do a search on the internet on passive
heating and cooling. Just a thought.
